Tells Peak
Nature
Tells Peak is a Sierra Nevada mountain at the northern end of California’s Crystal Range, west of Lake Tahoe, within the Desolation Wilderness in El Dorado County. Its significance lies chiefly in the uncertain origin of its name. The name is probably connected to a Swiss homesteader named Tell who lived a few miles west of the peak, though at least one historian has argued that it instead honored Ciperano Pedrini, a Garden Valley storekeeper known as Bill Tell.
