The Town of Merrimack erected this war memorial in May 1892 in memory of its soldiers and sailors, and it records those who served in the Revolutionary War of 1776, the War of 1812–15, the Mexican War, the Civil War of 1861–65, the Spanish War, and World War I, including James H. Ferguson, who died in service, followed by an honor roll of veterans.
