Andrew Taylor Still, physician and founder of Osteopathic medicine, was born here in a log cabin on August 6, 1828. The cabin now stands on the campus of Kirksville College of Osteopathy and Surgery in Kirksville, Missouri, the first American school of Osteopathic medicine, founded by Dr. Still in 1892. A veteran of the War Between the States, Dr. Still died at Kirksville on December 12, 1917.
