Mount Starr King
Nature
Mount Starr King is a granite dome in Yosemite National Park that rises 9,096 feet above sea level and is distinguished by its strikingly symmetrical shape. Blending the character of a mountain with the smooth, sheer surfaces of Yosemite’s domes, it stands out in the park’s high country. Its summit is not reachable by ordinary trail travel, because even the easiest routes require technical climbing skills or equipment and are rated low class 5 on the Yosemite Decimal System. Named for Thomas Starr King, it has also been known as Kings Peak, See-wah-lam, South Dome, and Tis-sa-ack.
