Weltzheimer/Johnson House in Oberlin, Ohio, is a Usonian house designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, commissioned by Charles and Margaret Weltzheimer in 1947, and built in 1948 and 1949 as the first of nine Usonian houses in Ohio. Created as part of Wright’s effort to provide modern, attractive homes for the American middle class after World War II, it combines hallmark Usonian features with unusual details such as extensive redwood, distinctive curving clerestory motifs, and ornamented roofline elements echoed inside. After later alterations, Ellen H. Johnson bought the house in 1968, restored it over 25 years, and secured its preservation through Oberlin College.
