Schoepfle Garden in Birmingham, Ohio, is a 70-acre botanical garden and natural woodland along the Vermilion River, with cultivated gardens, wooded trails, and year-round guided tours. Once the Schoepfle family home, the property was repurchased in 1936 by Otto Schoepfle, who gradually transformed it into a garden shaped by ideas from his travels in Europe and by help from local residents. Its distinct areas include a formal garden, a shade garden, a children’s garden added through community effort, and woodland trails. Donated to the Lorain County Metro Parks in 1969, it remained Otto Schoepfle’s home until his death in 1992.
