Holland State Park is a 142-acre public recreation area on Lake Michigan about four miles west of Holland, set on the north side of the channel linking Lake Macatawa and Lake Michigan. Divided into Lake Macatawa and Lake Michigan units, it is often Michigan’s most visited state park, attracting roughly 1.5 to 2 million people annually. Its appeal comes from a broad sandy beach, harbor scenery, dunes, and views of the Holland Harbor Light, known as Big Red. The two sections provide campgrounds, beaches, a boat launch, a pavilion, and spaces for swimming, boating, fishing, camping, picnicking, and playground use.
