Buell Children’s Museum in Pueblo, Colorado, is a hands-on children’s museum focused on art, science, and history as part of the Sangre de Cristo Arts and Conference Center. The larger center opened in 1972, expanded in 1982, and in 2000 gained the present museum and the Jackson Sculpture Garden. The museum includes interactive gallery space, a theater, café, gift shop, arts-and-crafts studio, changing exhibition gallery, multi-sensory environment, and a barn-themed area for very young children. Accredited through the larger institution and affiliated with children’s museum organizations, it has also earned state and national recognition, including honors from Child Magazine and the El Pomar Foundation.
