Oakmont’s religious tradition reaches back to 1857 with the establishment of Oakmont Presbyterian Church. Through the 1900s, several more churches were founded, and as their congregations grew, some early church buildings were adopted by different denominations or converted to other uses. For more than 150 years, Oakmont’s churches helped build a strong community through schools, outreach programs, and social activities, and these places of worship remain an important part of the town’s history and heritage.
