St. Andrews Presbyterian Church was organized on September 13, 1886, at 4:00 PM in the home of Mr. Hiram M. Mapes, with a church roll of 16 members. For a little more than a year, this small band of Presbyterians met in members' homes until the first church building was completed on July 22, 1888, at the corner of Drake Street and Lorraine Avenue, present-day 14th Street. On June 8, 1917, the wooden church building was moved to the corner of 14th Street and Bayview Avenue. Not until the 1940s and early 1950s were additional lots purchased to connect the church's property to Beck Avenue, and during that period the church constructed the Boy Scout building and acquired the manse. In 1949, a new sanctuary was built to replace the original church building. In 2008, the church renovated the 59-year-old sanctuary and remodeled the social hall, and a connecting structure housing the choir room and classrooms was built between the two buildings. The only remains of the original wooden church is the church bell in the belfry of the educational building.
