The Colquitt County Courthouse was constructed in 1902 and stood for almost 100 years as both a landmark and a point of pride for the citizens of Colquitt County. It was renovated in 1956-1957, when a third floor was added to the original two-story structure. In 1994, the citizens of Colquitt County voted a one-cent sales tax on themselves to restore the courthouse. Construction began on July 1, 1998, was completed in March 2001, and the courthouse was rededicated on March 18, 2001.
