Frederick Douglas Moore, a highly respected African-American citizen of Denton, had a successful career in education. He became principal of the Fred Douglass School in 1915 and, known for his character, integrity, and perseverance, helped African-American students obtain a better education. In 1948, he was honored at the dedication of Fred Moore Park, and the Fred Moore School was named for him in 1949. He served the Denton community and Southeast Denton area well.
