Jonathan Scott and his wife Hannah Hawkes were the first permanent settlers of Watertown. Their lives were remembered for the suffering and torture inflicted on them by Indians. Jonathan Scott died May 15, 1745, at the age of 79, and Hannah, the wife of Jonathan Scott, died April 7, 1744, at the age of 77.
