James T., Daniel, and Ephraim Walker moved a building owned by Isaac Barton across the street to this location and opened their store in 1891. The home now standing here was remodeled from that original building. The store operated until the 1920s, and it had the only telephone in town. When messages needed to be delivered, James T.'s daughters, Martha and Golda, took them to the recipients.
