Saratoga Gap Open Space Preserve is a protected 1,540-acre area in the Santa Cruz Mountains near Saratoga Gap, at about 2,608 feet above sea level. Owned and operated by the Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District, it is forested with oak and evergreen trees and offers about 2 miles of trails for hikers, equestrians, and bicyclists. Parts of the Bay Area Ridge Trail pass through Saratoga Gap, connecting the preserve to a much larger regional trail network that follows the spine of the Bay Area’s mountains.
