Sanborn County Park is a 3,453-acre regional park in California’s Santa Cruz Mountains west of Saratoga, known for second-growth redwoods, year-round creeks, cooler summer conditions, and more than 15 miles of trails. Its mountain setting supports hiking, camping, picnicking, and connections to the Bay Area Ridge Trail, while Summit Rock offers climbing and wide views. The park is also notable for geology shaped by the San Andreas Fault, including sag ponds and other earthquake-formed landforms. Its human history includes Ohlone use, a 1908 summer retreat built by Judge James R. Welch, later ownership by Vernon J. Pick, county acquisition in the late 1970s, a long-running hostel, and educational and cultural programs.
