A big white pine served as a landmark near the Iron-Ashland County line northeast of Glidden, Wisconsin. The first section of twenty feet was in Glidden, and Les got the next cut of twelve feet. The tree measured six feet on the stump, stood one hundred forty-four feet high, and had its first limb sixty-five feet up. Its age was over four hundred years. It stood in the area where the Les Bowen family and friends had hunted since 1939, in December 1985.
