Capital Saloon
History
2
Rebuilt of brick in 1867, one year after the devastating Mariposa fire, Joseph H. Miller's Capital Saloon also served as the Mariposa Post Office. Miller served as Postmaster until his death in 1887. Daughter-in-law Lucy Miller served as Postmistress from 1887 to 1909. After 1909, the building's varied history included a soda shop and later a saloon-barbershop combination. The 1867 bar is still here in its original location.
