Nick A. Calcagno was a renowned painter, sculptor, and author who graduated from St. Bonaventure University, earned an M.A. from Seton Hall University, and a Ph.D. from Western Colorado University. An educator for 39 years, he was a beloved professor at NEO A&M College and retired as chairman of the Fine Arts Department. His artistry is represented by large sculptures including the Golden Norseman on the NEO campus and Steve Owens in OU's Heisman Park, while his piece depicting Mickey Mantle has been displayed in the Smithsonian Museum. His murals of historic people, places, and events are enjoyed throughout Northeast Oklahoma.
