History

This 13 acre site was laid out as the Public Square in the 1851 Town Plat of Tullahoma, intended as a park and town meeting area, but the center of town instead followed the depot built by the railroad. Tullahoma's first public school was built here in 1886, and the auditorium was added in 1922. Volunteers saved it in 1979. The rebuilt Bussell-Ganoe log cabin, likely the oldest structure in the city and perhaps dating to as early as 1850, was moved here from South Atlantic Street.
