Seminoe State Park in central Wyoming occupies the northwest side of Seminoe Reservoir at the base of the Seminoe Mountains, about 35 miles north of Sinclair. Created in 1965 through an agreement between Wyoming and the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation, it followed the construction of Seminoe Dam and Reservoir in the 1930s. The park includes 1,639 acres of land and access to 19,000 acres of water, with the reservoir at the center of its identity and use. Its name derives from Cimineau, the surname of French trapper Basil Cimineau Lajeunesse. The area is valued for camping, swimming, fishing, boating, picnicking, and abundant wildlife.
