At Wounded Knee and Drexel Mission, South Dakota, soldiers were killed in battle with Sioux Indians on December 29 and 30, 1890, and in 1893 their comrades in the Medical Department and Seventh Cavalry, U.S. Army, erected a tribute of affection to them.
