The Flumerfelt Barn, a post-and-beam barn originally located at Kern and Gunn Roads, was owned for 49 years by the Flumerfelt family and was signed in 1879, with interior boards bearing that date and signature. Later part of the Peters farm and Kern Nursery, it was dismantled and moved in early 2004 because the land was to be redeveloped. The Cranberry Lake Farm Historic District was chosen as its new site, where a similar barn once stood. After planning and fundraising, volunteers from the Oakland Township Historical Society moved the barn, began repairing its structural timbers, and on August 21, 2004 raised the pegged, mortis-and-tenon timber structure using traditional methods involving ropes and pikes. Society volunteers completed all remaining construction work that same year, and after an official commemoration on June 1, 2005, the barn was deeded to Oakland Township for joint use by the Oakland Township Historical Society and the township Parks and Recreation Commission.
