Rasmus Justesen was a sheepman and polygamist who built a 1-1/2 story stucco-over-adobe house for his first wife, Sarah Shepherd, and her family. In addition to his sheep business, he fought in the Black Hawk Indian War, served on the Spring City Council in 1876, and was elected mayor twice, in 1880 and 1897.
