Captain Ernest Wagner Park was dedicated July 27, 1980. Captain Wagner commanded the excursion passenger steamboats Island Queen, Delta Queen, Mississippi Queen and Avalon on the Ohio and Mississippi River systems. He knew every bend, sandbar and tree on the inland waterways, but called this spot home. He lived from 1910 to 1979, and was remembered with the words, 'the fog is rising.'
