Old Dowlin Mill is partly original structure and was a famous landmark for 100 years. It was originally a grist and sawmill and served as a rendezvous used by William H. Bonney, known as Billy the Kid, Pat Garrett, Johnny Riley, J.J. Pershing, then a lieutenant at Fort Stanton, and other historic figures.
