Arabia Mountain is a granite-like monadnock east of Atlanta that forms the northern peak of the Davidson-Arabia Mountain Nature Preserve and rises above Arabia Lake. Though appearing bare, its exposed rock supports specialized plant life, including red diamorpha and rare species. Its distinctive swirl-patterned migmatite formed more than 400 million years ago under intense heat and pressure, and the stone was long prized for construction because of its strength and appearance. Quarrying expanded in the late 19th century and left visible industrial traces. Since the 1970s, donated and acquired land has been preserved as part of a broader heritage landscape valued for ecology and local history.
