Panola Mountain is a 100-acre granite monadnock in Georgia's Rockdale County near the South River. Rising 946 feet above sea level and about 260 feet above the river, it occupies a landscape where the South River marks the boundary of Henry, Rockdale, and DeKalb counties. The mountain is especially significant for its delicate ecological features, whose sensitivity led to its designation as a National Natural Landmark on December 16, 1980. It is now associated with Panola Mountain State Park, where its exposed granite dome remains the landscape's defining feature.
