On April 15, 1995, a UH-1H "Huey" helicopter was donated by the Department of the Army and the Kansas Army National Guard to Girard Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7479 through the efforts of All American Post Commander Larry R. Salzman and members of All American V.F.W. Post 7479. Sincere appreciation was given to Crawford County Commissioners Pat Barone, Anthony Pichler, and Earl McColm, to the citizens of Crawford County for the memorial site, and to Mayor Jerry Staton, the City of Girard, and other benefactors whose support made the Vietnam "Moving Wall" Memorial, held April 13 - April 19, 1994, a continuous success with this dedication and the future site of the Kansas Vietnam War Memorial.
