The Civilian Conservation Corps enrolled 3.5 million men whose legacy of accomplishments was left for the future to enjoy. Camp Farlington, Co. 788th "Fire Devils" SCS-10-L, was based here and built Crawford State Lake from 1934-1939. The dedication also recalls John Spurling's view that people do not own the land or its resources, but borrow them only for their short time on Earth.
