Jimmie Davis Tabernacle
Faith
1
Built in 1964 by friends of Governor Jimmie H. Davis, this tabernacle reflected support from people of many faiths who believed in the church and were dedicated to the promotion of Christian living and to songs of Christian inspiration. On these grounds, Governor Davis graduated from Beech Springs High School, and his father and mother once lived a few feet behind the building. The construction of the tabernacle was first suggested by W.L. "Buddy" Billups. Its architect was Wilson and Coleman; hardsurfacing of the parking area was done by J.A. Harper and Ted F. Dunham, Terral Construction Co. Inc.; the contractor was W.C and W.L. Salley; and landscaping was by James P. Cross and C.J. Blalock.
