Barn quilts are a homegrown art form that combines aspects of traditional Americana, including barns, quilts, and road trips. Donna Sue Groves of Manchester, Ohio, is credited with beginning the barn quilt trail movement in 2001 to honor her mother's love for quilting. Today, barn quilts appear on barns, homes, and buildings throughout North America. In almost every part of the world, the dragonfly symbolizes change, transformation, adaptability, and self-realization, and for many centuries it has also stood for happiness, new beginnings, hope, and love. In Chiefland, Florida, the dragonfly expresses a hoped-for renaissance and a positive change meant to uplift and unite the community through property renovation.
