Allegheny Commons is Pittsburgh's oldest park and one of the first west of the Allegheny Mountains. It was designed in 1868 on land designated for common grazing when the town of Allegheny was surveyed in 1788. Its 80 acres are owned and maintained by the City of Pittsburgh, with support from park neighbors.
