White Dome Geyser is a prominent cone geyser in Yellowstone National Park’s Lower Geyser Basin, notable for its large 12-foot geyserite cone, one of the park’s biggest. Its eruptions are unpredictable, usually occurring every 15 minutes to 3 hours, most often at 20- to 35-minute intervals, and lasting about 2 minutes while reaching roughly 30 feet. It often begins with little warning and may also produce minor spitting or smaller bursts between major eruptions. Long associated with Yellowstone’s public image, it stands within the White Dome Group near Mushroom Pool, where Thermus aquaticus was first isolated, linking the area to major advances in molecular biology.
