Mechanicsville Road Covered Bridge carries traffic over the Grand River in Austinburg Township, Ohio, southeast of Geneva, and stands as a notable part of Ashtabula County’s covered-bridge tradition. Built in 1867, it is believed to be the county’s oldest covered bridge and, at 156 feet, its longest single-span example. The bridge uses a Howe truss, a design common in the 19th century, with laminated arches added later to strengthen it. After being closed and bypassed by a newer nearby bridge, it underwent renovation in 2003 and 2004 and reopened in 2004 as both an active crossing and a preserved piece of Ohio heritage.
