Around 1900, the Halcomb House became the family home of Dr. and Mrs. “F.J.” Halcomb, Jr., and remained their home for 67 years. Dr. Halcomb saw patients there as well as at his clinic and the local hospital, and patients often visited the house, where the screened-in porch was enclosed in the early 1960s for use as an examination room. Dr. “F.J.” Halcomb, Jr., practiced medicine in Scottsville for nearly 60 years. He was instrumental in bringing the first modern hospital to Allen County, was a charter member of the KY Academy of Family Physicians, and a Charter Diplomate of the Am. Board of Family Medicine. He also served for many years on the Allen County School Board and the Scottsville City Council.
