Frost Fire Park
Nature
Frost Fire Park is a small four-season recreation site in the Pembina River Gorge of northeastern North Dakota, near Walhalla and the Manitoba border, where unusual terrain gives the state some of its greatest variety. Founded in 1976 as Frost Fire Ski and Snowboard Area, it developed with an unusual uphill layout placing the lodge and parking near the top of the ski runs. After 40 years, the Pembina Gorge Foundation purchased and renamed it to reflect a broader role. Along with skiing and snowboard instruction, it offers lift-served mountain biking in summer and an outdoor amphitheater for warm-weather plays and musicals.
