Founded in 1957 in Bozeman, Montana, the Museum of the Rockies preserves the natural and cultural history of Montana and the Northern Rockies through collections spanning more than 500 million years and about 300,000 objects. It is especially renowned for paleontology, holding the largest collection of North American dinosaur fossils in the United States, including major Tyrannosaurus rex specimens and other notable discoveries linked to curator Jack Horner. The museum also interprets regional human history through exhibitions, the preserved 1889 Tinsley House, extensive photographic holdings, a planetarium, and a humanities center that strengthened its role as a leading Rocky Mountain institution for science and history.
