Saddle Peak is a prominent 9,159-foot mountain in Montana’s Bridger Range, about nine miles north of Bozeman in Gallatin National Forest, and the sixth-highest peak in the range. Its significance lies in its striking relief: the summit rises 3,160 feet above Slushman Creek in only 1.5 miles, creating a steep, sharply defined profile. Water from its slopes drains into tributaries of the East Gallatin River, tying it to the broader Bozeman watershed. The mountain’s descriptive name was officially adopted by the United States Board on Geographic Names. Its alpine subarctic climate brings snowy winters, cool to warm summers, and year-round precipitation that helps support the nearby Bridger Bowl Ski Area.
