Chace-Cory House, built around 1730 by Abner or Benjamin Chace, was associated with some of the town's whaling men long ago. Another owner was Andrew Cory. In 1816 he sold the house to Seabury and his wife Mary Gray, a daughter of Pardon, who had moved away. They later returned and lived here for a time until about 1821, when they moved across East Road next to the store he ran for cousin Soule.
