Colorado Bend State Park is a Texas state park on the Colorado River in the Hill Country, mostly in San Saba County, with a smaller nonpublic section in Lampasas County. Acquired by the state in 1984 and opened in 1987, it is managed by Texas Parks and Wildlife. Its karst terrain of sinkholes, caves, and springs shapes both the landscape and popular routes, including Spicewood Springs Trail and the area around Gorman Falls, where spring-fed Gorman Creek drops 65 feet over travertine. Protected areas, guided and self-guided trails, and wild-cave tours highlight access management, while more than 150 bird species and the Guadalupe bass add to the park’s ecological importance.
