Dusty Glacier
Nature
Dusty Glacier lies on the northeast slopes of Glacier Peak in Washington, descending from about 9,022 feet to 6,430 feet and connecting in places with North Guardian Glacier to the south and Ermine Glacier to the north. Like Glacier Peak’s other glaciers, it is retreating. During the Little Ice Age, it extended down to about 4,800 feet, but since around 1850 it has generally receded and lost more than 1,500 meters, or about 4,900 feet, of its length. The glacier is heavily crevassed, and its lower end terminates in an icefall.
