In 1934, Glen Carbon won the Inter-City championship after a season that began with a tied first half against Granite City and a playoff game that Glen Carbon captured 13-12 on a late-inning rally for its seventh straight victory. In that slugfest, with four home runs hit, Glen came from behind in the last of the eighth as Pellegrini, Schmidt, Frank Unger, Tony Unger, Henry, and Cominsky figured in the winning rally, and Tony Unger also hit the longest drive, a 450 foot home run. Collinsville finished first in the second half, forcing a three-game playoff between Glen Carbon and Collinsville for the league championship. Glen Carbon won the opener 3-2 in 12 innings, with Tony Unger driving in the deciding run in the twelfth, Frank and Tony Unger combining for six of Glen's 10 hits, and Cominsky relieving Al Sedlacek in the fifth and holding Collinsville scoreless the rest of the way. Collinsville won the second game 6-4, but Glen Carbon took the deciding contest 1-0 behind Al Sedlacek, whose pitching allowed only four Collinsville runners to reach base, while Frank Unger's infield hit, a failed cover at first by Goetz, a wild pickoff attempt, a walk to Louis Perry, and Pellegrini's single combined to bring home the championship-winning run in the sixth inning.
