Salt Lick Village U.S. Post Office
History
6
Salt Lick Village's post office has long been an important part of the community. In 1804, the first U.S. Post Office in what is now Jackson opened here under the name Salt Lick. It kept that name until the settlement was renamed Jackson in 1817. The trailer now known as the Salt Lick Town Post Office was given to the Society by member Jim Hazelrigg, and it serves as the village post office as well as a repository for Society records.
