Maclure Glacier, also spelled McClure Glacier, is a small cirque glacier on Mount Maclure along the Sierra Nevada crest in Yosemite National Park, California. At a mean elevation of about 11,400 feet, it is roughly 0.20 mile long and covers about 0.08 square mile. Named after William Maclure, it is one of the small high-country ice bodies typical of the Sierra Nevada. Like nearby Lyell Glacier, it has retreated since it was first documented, reflecting the long-term shrinkage of the range’s remaining glaciers. Its significance today lies less in its size than in its survival as one of Yosemite’s small alpine glaciers.
