Charles William “Bill” Winder, the first boy born in Desert Lake, Utah, was born on June 28, 1888, to Charles Henry Winder and Helen Pilling, with grandparents Thomas Harrison Winder and Hanna Shreeve, and John Pilling and Sarah Bedford, and he died on Jan. 9, 1978. Caroline Elizabeth Mills was born in Ferron, Utah, on Feb. 2, 1887, to Henery George Mills and Eliza Ann Horsley, with grandparents George Henery Mills and Caroline Boxall, and John Pickett Horsley and Francis Jane Mills, and she died on Jan. 6, 1950. Both were buried in Cleveland, Utah, and they were married on Dec. 20, 1906. Sarah Bedford and John Pilling came to Utah with the 9th Handcart Co. in 1860, and John Pickett Horsley came to Utah with the 1st ox-team about 1852. William and Caroline homesteaded 160 acres on Cedar Mt., Utah, in Sec. 12 N 1, Township 19 50, Range 11 E, from 1910 to 1920, and they also homesteaded 80 acres surrounding this area in S 1/4 NE 1/4, NW 1/4 SE 1/4, Section 10, Township 17, 50 of Range 10 East S.L. Meridian, from 1910 to 1920. They were the parents of 14 children: Letha, Virl, Mildred, Ada, Arnold, Baby brother buried on Cedar Mt., Angues, Ugeen (deceased), Harold, Zina, Philip, twins Floyd and a stillborn baby sister, and Levan Dale.
