Huntington State Park in Emery County, Utah, centers on Huntington Reservoir, a warm-water lake used for both recreation and irrigation. Known for boating, waterskiing, fishing, crawdad catching, and waterfowl watching, it remains a popular recreation area. The reservoir was completed in 1966 by the United States Bureau of Reclamation as part of an Emery County irrigation and recreation project. The nearby town of Huntington, founded in 1877, and the reservoir were named for the Huntington brothers—Oliver, William, and Dimick—who first explored the area in 1855. Their roles in interpreting, scouting, exploration, and recordkeeping link the park to the region’s early settlement history.
