Cumberland Presbyterian Church Bell
Faith
9
A forty-eight-inch, two-thousand-pound bell from the original United Brethern Church stood atop that church from 1915 to 1986, when it was removed for structural reasons. With broad community support and effort, the people of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church designed and built a belltower, and the bell was raised again in the spring of 1990. It was dedicated with gratitude to the workers, for the children of tomorrow, to the glory of God, in the love of holiness, and to the cause and just pursuit of freedom. In a letter of congratulations, President George Bush praised the community's preservation of the historic bell and the ideals of faith in God, love of country, and concern for others that it symbolized.
