Science & Tech
Ryot Covered Bridge in West St. Clair Township, Bedford County, Pennsylvania, is a historic wooden covered bridge and one of fifteen historic covered bridges in the county. A low to medium Burr Truss bridge with a shallow gable roof, it reflects Pennsylvania’s covered-bridge tradition and has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 1980. Though it survived as a rare historic road bridge into modern times, it was severely damaged by arson in 2002. Its stone abutments and much of its recently added steel survived, and the bridge was reconstructed by P. Joseph Lehman, Inc., preserving it within Bedford County’s notable collection.
