The Reed family operated this store from 1862 until 1939. Jerome Reed and his brothers, William Caleb and Winfield Scott, started it in the home of their grandfather, William Tucker. It later moved to a building closer to the home and, as commerce moved up the creek, settled here. This store, built by Jordan & Ezell in the 1870s, served as a Post Office until 1912. The surrounding area also included a blacksmith shop, a steam-powered sawmill, a sorghum mill, a gristmill, and Edward's Grove Methodist Church. The Woodmen of the World met here in the early 1900s. Dr. Odem practiced medicine in the adjacent house. After World War I, Jerome's sons George and Buford ran the store, and Buford operated it from 1928 to 1939 before it was sold to Robert White.
